PART TEXTUAL SUMMARY
This Week with Huzoor – 1 March 2024
INTRODUCTION for two events
Alislam
The www.Alislam.com website is no ordinary Islamic website – It is exceptional and stands out as an incredible source of knowledge and enlightenment for those seeking to enrich their understanding of Ahmadiyyat and Islam. At AMAUK Gallery, we refer to this website often when working on various projects. Kudos to the entire Alislam team for their outstanding dedication and service. It was, therefore, indeed, a very blessed moment for some members of the Alislam team from Europe and USA to have an in-person meeting with Huzoor(aba) on 24 February 2024 at Islamabad.
Ghana
On the same day, Huzoor(aba) gave his concluding address to the Ghana’s 91st Jalsa Salana from Islamabad, London. In Ghana, 39,000 Ahmadi Muslims gathered and from the Masroor Hall in Islamabad UK, 1333 attended out of which 300 attendees were Africans. This was a special Jalsa as it represented the Centenary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Ghana and was not just a reflection of the past but also a recommitment to the future, as Huzoor(aba) urged members to continue their spiritual and societal contributions while fostering peace and understanding in Ghana and beyond. Further details are below but we start with the Alislam summary.
Alislam meeting summary
A member of the Alislam web team demonstrated to Huzoor(aba) recent websites updates and said: “Our primary focus has been on the library, particularly the book section and a lot of the design now is to help with the browsing experience.” The speaker then elaborated on the integration and the streamlined use of Qur'anic references within the text of the Promised Messiah’s(as) book, The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam. He also introduced a novel feature which enables a user to preview books directly from their covers. This preview includes a detailed panel describing the book’s content and listing all Qur’anic verses mentioned, including their specific locations within the text. This enhancement will no doubt, be exceptionally beneficial for research purposes.
The team member also highlighted the innovative feature allowing users to click on any Qur'anic verse cited in the texts to access immediate translations, related topics and extensive commentaries. Additionally, the ‘explorer' function will reveal the verse’s use across the Alislam.org website, marking a significant milestone in the site’s development.
The team also demonstrated the enhanced capabilities of the Alislam search engine, which now yields far more comprehensive results compared to Google. An example was given of the word ‘taqwa’ which returned 437 instances across 71 books using the Alislam website but resulted in only a handful using Google.
Huzoor(aba) also shared his personal approach to indexing and advised that the website’s system should emulate this method.
A question was asked to Huzoor(aba): “Al-Islam possesses a lot of Jama’at-relevant data in digital form. I want to ask Huzoor(aba), in the case of some global catastrophe, how can we protect this data?” Huzoor’s(aba) response raised some laughter when he replied: “You are the technical person, how would I know?!” However, Huzoor(aba) did say: “... I have stored our old Jama’at-relevant literature in a couple of countries. I have preserved old records of the Jama’at or MTA data in Africa and some places in North America. One method of preserving such [copies of] data is to physically store it somewhere. If there is any other method, then you should know that better than me!”
Ghana Jalsa summary
In his address, Huzoor(aba) emphasised the significant growth of the Ahmadi community Ghana from its humble beginnings a century ago and how it has flourished to the extent that all Ghanaian people know about the Jama’at and hold it in high regard.
The century-long journey of Ahmadiyyat in Ghana has been marked by significant milestones and challenges, from early confrontations and public debates to the blessings of visits from Khalifas, which increased the Jama’ats faith and presence.
In his address, Huzoor(aba) praised the Ghanaian Jama’at and said: “Where the Jama’at of Ghana is furthering the cause of Islam through Tabligh, it has also established schools, colleges, hospitals and other vital services, which has long been a means of outstanding service to the people of your nation.”
Huzoor(aba) then added: “It must not be that having reached this milestone, you now sit back and relax; rather, as Ghanian Jama’at enters its second centenary, it is the duty of every Ahmadi to strive earnestly to ensure its continued progress and prosperity.”
Huzoor(aba) continued: “You must endeavour to convey the message of Islam to every single person of the country, seek to win the hearts and minds of your people through love and compassion. Inform your compatriots, that in this era, in servitude to the Holy Prophet Muhammad(sa), the Messiah and Mahdi who was destined to come has arrived in person of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) of Qadian.”
Huzoor(aba) also stated in his address that geopolitical conflicts are intensifying and animosity is becoming deeply rooted both domestically and internationally. He emphasised that as Ahmadi Muslims, it is our belief that guidance from the Holy Qur’an is the only way to convert the prevailing global hostilities and conflicts into relationships characterised by mutual love and unity.
“So, as Ahmadi Muslims, never forget who you are and what you represent,” said Huzoor(aba)
Huzoor(aba) also outlined some the conditions of Ba’iat and emphasised several important principles that Ahmadi Muslims should follow to ensure the well-being of their future and that of others. Below are bullet points of just a few key points Huzoor(aba) mentioned in his address.
The address was considerably more detailed and one is encouraged the read the full transcript at The Review of Religions website at: https://tinyurl.com/4ddaamey
