  • Muslims believe the Holy Qur'an to be the sacred Word of God. The Qur'an means 'to recite.'
  • It is a compilation of verses revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad(ﷺ) by the Archangel Gabriel and over a period of 23 years. Click photos on right to enlarge.
  • The Holy Qur'an encompasses the law for Muslims with commandments and codes for their social and moral behaviour and contains a comprehensive religious philosophy.
  • The Holy Qur'an is divided into 114 Surahs or Chapters and each Chapter consists of individual Ayaat or verses. There are in total 6,348 verses in the Holy Qur'an.
  • The text of the Holy Qur'an has remained unchanged since its revelation. God says in the Holy Qur'an that He Himself will guard this book: “Surely it is We Who have revealed the Exposition, and surely it is We Who are its guardians”  (Ch.15: V.10)

VIDEO: The Holy Qur'an - the Final Guidance for Mankind
(Short video of English speech by Bilal Atkinson at the Jalsa Salana on 1st August 1999)
"The Holy Qur'an affirms the basic truth of all previous revelations at their source, but its own revelation comprises all truth for the whole of mankind for all time."

"It explains all that is needed  by mankind to the complete fulfilment of life. It makes provision for man's welfare – material, moral and spiritual and teaches the philosophy underlying it."

Listed below are just a few verses from the Holy Qur'an. It is always best to recite the Qur'an in book form at least once a day and ideally at Fajr prayer time and at the same time to read the translation and commentary to get a better understanding of the verses.

Our Lord, in You do we put our trust, and to You do we turn repentant, and towards You is the final return.
