Al-Hakam (27th February, PAAMA UK)
  • QUESTION: Mariyum Bosu Sahiba asked about what expectations Huzoor (aba) had from PAAMA UK Lajna members.
“The same expectations as they are for men and boys. Lajna should also make their plan and programme, they should also spread the message of true Islam, they should also try to increase their religious knowledge, general knowledge, they should also try to be good – even better than the men – in morals and even sometimes you guide the men. Your responsibility is to raise your children in the best way, in the best manner so that they grow up as good Ahmadi Muslims.

“This is the duty of each and every Muslim woman and being the member of Lajna PAAMA – you are living here in the Western world where religious activities are not taken seriously, or not considered good even, too much is spoken against religion – so here you will have to maintain your traditions and your religion as well. This is your duty.”

  • QUESTION: Khola Sahiba, referred to an instruction received by Lajna Uganda about the profile pictures of girls. She asked how parents should explain to young girls why their photographs should not be used as profile pictures.
To this, Huzoor (aba) said that if the girls were young, below the age of 12, their pictures could be used by their parents as profile images. Huzoor (aba)  also added that:

“Women should not display their pictures on their profiles – not only the girls [but also] grown-up women, those who are mature, those who have attained their age of maturity because that can harm them.

“There are quite a number of men who are not of good nature, they can take advantage of their profile pictures by using them somewhere which is not appropriate.

“This is why I say women should be very much careful as there is hijab and purdah essential for women, not for men. Men have only been asked that they should lower their gaze, keep their eyes low. They should not see the women without any restriction. But women have been asked that along with lowering their gaze, they should also cover their faces.

“This is why this is the Islamic teaching that you should not permit men to misuse your profile, your picture or they blackmail you somewhere or they contact you and then you will be in trouble. This is the only thing. […]"

Huzoor (aba)  said this instruction was not only for Uganda Lajna but all Ahmadi Muslim women in the world. Referring to Uganda Lajna, Huzoor (aba) , with a smile, said:

“I think Uganda Lajna is more particular in implementing this directive. So I am happy that they are active Lajna. Uganda Lajna is quite active.”

  • QUESTION: Lajna member asked if Ahmadi women could wear artificial nails and eyelashes.
“Yes, there is no problem with it. If they are clean then you can use them, and after your function when you are wearing these nails, you can remove them.

“But your own nails should not be very long. This is the tradition, the hadith of the Holy Prophet (sa) that you cut your nails so that no dirt, no dirty thing gets into it and when you are eating you may have contaminated food and the contamination can go through your nails to your stomach. This is why Allah the Almighty says that you cut your nails, keep your nails clean.

“But if for some function you are wearing nails just for one or two hours, then there is no problem.”

  • QUESTION: Nooruddeen Jahangeer Khan Sahib asked how PAAMA UK could better serve the needs of the African people. For example, could PAAMA collaborate with organisations like Humanity First and serve Africans?

Huzoor (aba) said:“Who has stopped you from doing it? You can work in collaboration with any of the organisations […] Apart from Humanity First, there are quite a number of charity organisations with whom you can start your work.

“But, first, you make a plan – what is your plan? What typeof work do you want to do? What type of project do you want to start in Africa? And if Humanity First or IAAAE or even our central Jamaat organisation, or auxiliary organisation are doing any project in Africa, Pan-African members can help them.

“You are here now, financially you are better off than those people living in Africa so you can contribute towards those projects which are being run by Humanity First or other Jama'at auxiliary organisations, or Jamaat’s central system or IAAAE or any other charity. So, you can help them.

“You can find out in which part of the country – or which country – people are more in need of some development projects so that you can ask Humanity First or other organisations that ‘these are the people who are deprived of their basic necessities and they should be helped.’

“And then, if you have any idea that how these people can be helped, you can give your idea to those people and even extend your help to them. You can ask them that ‘PAAMA as a whole can also be part of this project in any way you are in need of.’”

Al-Hakam (5th March, Atfal USA)
  • QUESTION: Faraan Jadran asked Huzoor (aba) what the right age was to start doing tabligh to friends and class-fellows.
Huzoor (aba) replied: “The right age is when you understand what you believe in, and your friends also understand what the religion is.” Huzoor (aba) then asked him if he understood who he was. Huzoor (aba) said, “You are an Ahmadi. Ahmadis are Muslims.” Huzoor (aba) then asked Farhan, “Do we believe in the finality of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (saw)?” Farhan Judran responded that he was the last law-bearing prophet, but not the last prophet. Huzoor (aba) then elaborated; “He is the last law-bearing prophet and… we believe in the Holy Qur'an. We believe that the Holy Qur'an was revealed to the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him… You believe that the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Sahib (as), is the Promised Messiah whose advent was foretold by the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.” Huzoor (aba) asked if he understood all these things, to which Farhan Judran nodded in the affirmative.

Huzoor (aba) further stated: “Now you understand all these things, and if your friends also understand this, then this is the right age to do tabligh.”

  • QUESTION: Abdul Hamid Bamgbopa stated that in this current time, almost everything was linked to electronic devices including schoolwork. He asked Huzoor (aba) how one could balance their time without overusing electronic devices.
Huzoor (aba) replied: “These days, especially during these pandemic days, your classes were sometimes also online. Now, I think you have started going to school. Despite that, most of the work you do is on iPads or some other electronic devices – tablets or something like that. You have to see to it that you should not over-stress your eyes. If you are working on electronic devices; tablets, and cell phones, and all these sorts of things because of schoolwork, then you should not spend much time on seeing your TV programmes […] otherwise you will not be doing justice to your health or your eyes. […] If you spent two, three hours, four hours, on the iPad or electronic devices, or tablets, then stop seeing any [TV] programme on that day. That is the best advice I can give.”

  • QUESTION: Fateh Rafiq asked Huzoor (aba) that if he encountered a person who was rude to him and ruined his day, how should he handle such a situation.
Huzoor (aba) answered: “The person who is rude, he must be arrogant; and when he is rude then just keep quiet and avoid him. This is why Allah the Exalted says that when you come across any bad thing or any place where people are sitting who are not talking good things, or they are rude to you, then just avoid them; say assalamu alaikum and leave that place instead of fighting with them. And say istighfar and thank Allah the Exalted that He has saved you from these people, and try to find some other people with whom you can interact.”

  • QUESTION: Aayan Choudary asked Huzoor (aba) how one should respond to those who spoke ill about Islam.
Huzoor (aba) replied: “If they are your close friends, then tell them that ‘we should not hurt each other’s sentiments by talking like this.’ You can tell them, ‘I love my religion and I am a Muslim, and if you want me to remain your friend then don’t talk ill about Islam, don’t talk badly about Islam.’ Then you can say, ‘we respect all religions, we respect all people, we respect humanity, and this is why we don’t speak ill of anybody, of any person, of any person’s religion.’ If he stops [speaking ill about Islam], well and good; otherwise, Allah says – as I have already said – leave that person’s company. Instead of fighting, just leave and go and find some good friends.”

  • QUESTION: Hizqeel Ehsan asked Hazrat Khalifatul Masihaa how he could be more like the Holy Prophet (saw).
Huzoor (aba) answered: “Allah the Exalted says that ‘he is a role model for you’. We cannot attain that level on which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) was but at least if we try hard, we can do good things. He tried to discharge his duties towards Allah the Exalted and he tried his level best to discharge his duties towards the human beings. So, we should try to be good in our worship, we [should] try to offer the five daily prayers, we [should] always show good morals, never fight with your fellow students or your siblings, use good language all the time, never use abusive or dirty language, try to learn good things, read the Holy Qur'an and when you complete the Holy Qur'an then try to know the meaning of it, then you would know what your duties are. So, in this way, you can at least follow the footsteps of the Holy Prophet (sa) who is our role model.”

  • QUESTION: Luqman Rahman said that he was a waqif-e-nau and desired to be a chef. He asked if this career could help the Jama'at.
Huzoor (aba) said: “Yes, if you like cooking, you want to be a chef, then you can be the in-charge of Langar Khana of the Promised Messiah (as). Then, we can make proper use of your expertise. You learn whatever you like. Then, you will be in-charge of Langar Khana of the whole of United States.”

  • QUESTION: Zaid Rahman stated that he would try to read the Holy Qur'an daily and said that he had read it in Arabic. He asked Huzoor (aba) at what age he should start reading its translation.
Huzoor (aba) said: “If you can read the Holy Qur'an fluently, without any problem, then now you should start learning the meaning […]”Huzoor (aba) advised that he, whilst reading the Arabic, could also read and learn the meaning of the Holy Qur'an. Huzoor (aba) asked if he knew the meaning of Surah Al-Fatihah to which Zaid Rahman replied in the affirmative. Huzoor (aba) then told him to learn the meaning of the last three Surahs of the Holy Qur'an. “This is a good age; you are 10 years old. This is a good age for learning the translation of the Holy Qur'an.”

  • QUESTION: Faris Iqbal, 8, asked Huzoor (aba) which book of the Promised Messiah (as) he would recommend someone of his age to read.
Huzoor (aba) stated: “Promised Messiah’s books are quite difficult to understand, but you can read some passages of it […] You can try to read Noah’s Ark and whenever you come across any difficult word or any difficult sentence, then you can ask your parents…”

  • QUESTION: Momin Chaudhry asked Huzoor (aba) who his favourite teacher was as a student.
Huzoor (aba) said: “I don’t remember if I have any favourite teacher. One thing is that I don’t remember [if I had a favourite teacher] and, if there was any, I cannot recall at this time.”

  • QUESTION: Affan Sindhu asked Huzoor (aba)a what his view was of hunting animals.
“Hunting is a good exercise, and fishing as well […] If you are just hunting for fun and leaving the bird there or the animal there, then it is not good but if it is for some purpose, if you are using it for [food] in your kitchen, [preparing it to be served] on your dining table, then it is good. So, you are doing exercise and at the same time getting some food for your family and for yourself. Only do hunting during the season. Don’t break the law. There are some specific seasons for hunting the animals and the birds. So, follow the directives of the government in this regard.”

  • QUESTION: Hamza Abdullah asked Huzoor (aba) how it was like to have Amir Sahib USA as his brother growing up.
Huzoor (aba) replied: “When we were growing up, I didn’t know that I would become the Khalifa of the time and I didn’t know that he will become the Amir of the USA. Now, that Allah Ta‘ala has given me this position, I have been blessed with it, and fortunately for him, the United States Jama'at has also elected him as the Amir of their Jama'at, so, now, he is just an Amir [for me] just as I see the Amirs of different other countries […] Being an Amir, he is an Amir. He is answerable to me with regards to the Jama'at’s matters. And, as being an older brother, now he has done bai’at of the Khalifa. So, now, he can tell how he feels. Anyway, he is an Ahmadi. I hope he is a strong and staunch Ahmadi and he will behave well towards Khilafat and towards the Jama'at and he will also discharge his duties, entrusted to him by the Jama'at, by the Khalifa of the time.”

  • QUESTION: Daniyal Khan asked if others living in the universe on other planets also worshipped Allah.
Huzoor (aba) responded: “If there is any habitation in the other planets, and they have the sense, and they have been given the same fertile brain as we have been given and the understanding of the religion, then I hope they would be worshipping Allah the Exalted but, we don’t know if there is any habitation in any other planet. If there is any, whenever we meet, then they will follow the Holy Prophetsa of Islam […]”

  • QUESTION: Rohan Zafar said that in verse 109 of Surah Hud, Allah says that heaven is “a gift that shall not be cut off.” He asked that if Allah was eternal, how was it possible for humans to also live eternally in heaven. He asked Huzoor (aba) to explain and expand on this matter.
Huzoor (aba) explained: “Allah the Exalted has said this thing in other places as well that heaven is eternal. This is why we say this worldly life is a temporary life. So, a person who comes in this world, he lives here temporarily and there is an eternal life after death […] this is very common among those people who are religious-minded or who know a bit of religion. Here, when it is said ‘eternal’, it is in relative terms. So, we cannot comprehend the time period because Allah the Exalted says that His one day is equal to 1000 years, and in another place, He says His one day is equal to 50000 years […] it is beyond our comprehension, this is why we say it is eternal. A person living in this world cannot have full comprehension of it. Allah the Exalted talks in relative terms […] if one day is 50000 years then multiply 100 years, so it is almost eternal for us. This is the simple answer.”

Al-Hakam (6th March, Khuddam – USA)
  • QUESTION: Mahid Kaisar Sahib from Chicago said Khuddam in the USA were geographically spread out. He asked Huzoor (aba) how MKA USA could help Khuddam attend salat in the mosque more regularly and join Jama'at events.
Huzoor (aba) said: “Where there are big pockets of Ahmadis, you should make your centre and mosque there. And if you already have the centre there where the majority of Ahmadis live, then at least they should be regular in coming to the mosque and offering their congregational prayers. “Those who are living at quite distant places then the Jama'at and auxiliary organisations should organise their local majalis there – local centre there – so at least they can get together there for their Jamaat functions and also come for congregational prayer. But at least on Fridays all of them should come to one place.

“This is the only solution we can have at present. But those who have a transport facility – they have their own cars – then they should come. Not only in the United States but in Australia even there are quite a number of people living far from the local centre but they do come for congregational prayer at least once a day and they have to drive for half an hour or more for that. […]”

Huzoor (aba) said MKA USA, Ansarullah and the Jama'at system should do proper tarbiyat of those who are living near the mosque within 15-20 minutes.

Regarding those who did not attend the mosque despite being close, Huzoor (aba) said: “There’s a lack of tarbiyat. If there is proper tarbiyat then at least you can see that the presence in the mosque is somehow better than before. […]

“If they have a genuine reason for not coming then at least they should have their own centre in their local areas. […] But this is the tarbiyat and the will and determination to come to the mosque and to the centre, and to participate in the Jama'at’s activities.

“If you don’t have any desire, then you cannot do anything. So, it all depends on your tarbiyat. Try to activate your tarbiyat department.”

  • QUESTION: Azeem Shams Sahib from Silicon Valley asked Huzoor (aba) about Khuddam who used recreational and illegal drugs.
Huzoor said  that these youth knew full well they were taking illegal drugs and were throwing themselves into a ditch. Huzoor (aba) said one could only show the right path to someone who was blind, “but the person who already knows, how can you guide him?”“Our tarbiyat department should work hard and do the proper tarbiyat of their Khuddam, Atfal, Lajna and even elderly people that ‘these are the bad things, these are the things which are prohibited in Islam even and we should not do it."
Huzoor (aba) said it was not only Islam that prohibited such things, rather the law of the land did so too. Those taking such drugs should be told about their harmful consequences but, in the end, “our work is just to remind them, apart from that we cannot do anything else”.

  • QUESTION: Fahad Amir Sahib from Las Vegas asked how Ahmadi Muslim youth could convince their friends who didn’t believe in religion about the importance of religion in one’s life.
Huzoor (aba) said said that if these non-religious students saw good and reputable traits in practising Ahmadi Muslim students – like being honest, working hard, having good morals, cooperating with others – they would ask the Ahmadis why they had such different traits to other students. In turn, Ahmadis could tell them it was because of their religion. Huzoor (aba) said Ahmadi students could respond to such questions by saying:

“[It is] because I am an Ahmadi Muslim and we believe in religion. We believe that whenever we do some good things Allah the Almighty will reward us either here or in the Hereafter. And because we believe in the life after death, this is why to please Allah the Almighty and get the reward in the life after death, we do good things. And even we do good things to create peace, and harmony and love in the society. We discharge the duties towards Allah the Almighty to please him.

“When you talk to them in this way then those who are interested will ask you more about religion. Those who are not interested will just leave you and even it’s quite possible they laugh at you, or they make you sometimes a laughing stock. But never mind. Don’t have any inferiority complex that they are mocking at you.

“This is how you, yourself have to create an atmosphere around you with which people themselves ask you ‘what is religion’”.

“Be confident in it!”

  • QUESTION: Zaryab Farooq Sahib from Bay Point, California asked about those Ahmadis who, on social media, have not shown the best examples concerning obedience to Khilafat.
“There are some Ahmadis – yes, there are some few Ahmadis on social media [who do this]. The thing is that they are indifferent about religion. If you do some detailed research you will see that most of them do not offer five daily prayers even; not even Friday prayers. They do not discharge their duties they owe to Allah the Almighty. So those who are not discharging their duties towards Allah, how can they be obedient to the Khilafat?

“And there are some, few among them even who offer their prayers. But their understanding is not good with regard to religion and obedience.

“You always say in your pledge of Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya, even [in] the conditions of bai‘at, that you will obey the decisions of the Khalifa of the time; the ‘ma‘ruf’ decision – and they say it means the Khalifa of the time can also take the decisions which are not ma‘ruf. But they are wrong in this.

Do they have any list of ma‘ruf and not ma‘ruf – that ‘this is right, and this is wrong’?

“Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I has said that this word has been used for the Holy Prophet (sa) in the Holy Qur'an, that I will obey the Holy Prophet (sa) in his ma‘ruf decisions. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I said that ‘Have they made any list of ma‘ruf and not ma‘ruf decisions of the Holy Prophet (sa)? Which of his decision was right and which was wrong? So, he said the meaning is that whatever Allah has commanded they will follow.

“Just last Friday’s sermon I mentioned that Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra) said in his first sermon that ‘Whenever you see that I’m deviating from the Qur'anic injunctions, the commandments, and the sunnah, then guide me and don’t obey me. But apart from that you don’t have the right.’
“That means the Khalifa of the time always guides you according to the teachings of the Holy Quran – commandments given in the Holy Qur'an – and the sunnah. And once he gives the directives or guidance to you according to the Qur'an and the sunnah then you don’t have any excuse to say ‘we disobey’.

“Either you prove that ‘your commandment, your order, your guidance’ is against the teaching of the Holy Qur'an and the practice of the Holy Prophet (sa) – that is sunnah – or obey it.

“If you prove that it is not in the Holy Qur'an and has never been practised by the Holy Prophet (sa) then you will have to give the proof of it and for that you will write to the Khalifa of the time instead of just talking and giving loose comments on social media.
“So, this is the right way.”

Huzoor (aba) continued: “Even I remember in my first or second sermon I said that ‘Whenever you see something wrong in me, you ask me. And try to correct me. If I think that whatever I said was right, then I will give you the proof that I was right. If you are right, then I will correct myself. But you don’t have the right to talk here and there.’ That was my first or second sermon after Khilafat. So even I have said this thing.

“Ma‘ruf means anything which is according to the Qur'an.”

Huzoor (aba) then referred to a hadith that once a group of Companions was sent for an expedition and on the way, the commander told the Companions to jump into a fire that they were passing. Some of the Companions rejected this instruction but there were some who said ‘we should jump’ as there was the commandment of obeying the leader. The commander saw they were getting serious so he told them he was just joking.

When the group came back to the Holy Prophet (sa) they informed him of the incident. The Holy Prophet (sa) said those who were ready to jump into the fire were wrong as this would be suicide and it was against the Holy Qur'an. He said this decision of the commander was not ma‘ruf, it was wrong and those who refused to do it took the right decision.

Huzoor (aba) said: “Any decision which is against the teaching of the Qur'an and sunnah is not ma‘ruf and you have the right to disobey it. But the decision which is according to the Quran and sunnah, you have to obey it.”

Huzoor (aba) said one could not publicly start commenting on decisions of the Khalifa, rather they should write directly to the Khalifa of the time,  In such a case the person should give their proof over why they thought a decision was wrong. The Khalifa of the time would either give his proof of why it was right or if the person was correct, he would take the decision back.

“But you have no right to spread and mislead the people on social media.”

  • QUESTION: Atir Bhatti from Los Angeles asked what Ahmadi youth could do to stay away from the negativity they faced in school or college.
Huzoor (aba) first advised: “You have to make good friends.” He then said that Ahmadi youth should be “good-natured” and should follow the commandments of Allah. In schools or colleges, they should actively try to offer their prayers to Allah either in their break time or ask their teachers to go for a few minutes to offer these prayers when the time arrived.

“By seeing this your fellow students would know that you are a person of different nature. If your morals are good, you always behave well, your language is always good, [you] are not doing any immoral things, not thinking ill of others, never try to harm any other, do not fight or quarrel, [you] are always busy with your school studies or whatever the extra-curriculum activities planned or given to you by the school, then they would know that these students are different. And those students who are of good nature, they themselves will come to you and try to make you friends. This is the only way.

“And if you come across any person whom you know, who has been your friend and now has changed and is not morally good, then leave him. This is the only way you can save yourself from the negativity of your daily life in the school.

“And try to increase your religious knowledge as well because sometimes they will argue with you, they will ask so many questions. And then when they ask some questions from you, you should be able to answer them with regards to your religion.”

  • QUESTION: Fiaz Ahmad Sahib from Seattle asked if apart from the brain, the soul also made decisions and if so how could this be explained.
Huzoor (aba) said: “Every person has a soul in him or her. If you are a pious natured person, then your soul will always give order to your brain to do good things. If you are not, because you have been influenced by the environment and atmosphere surrounding around you, then your brain may take some decisions which are not good. So, it is the soul which guides you. “This is why the Holy Prophet (sa) has said that every child is born with a good, pious nature but their surroundings – their parents – make them a Christian, or Jew, or Atheist or Muslim. That is affecting their soul.

“The link between the soul, body and brain has been discussed in detail, has been elaborated in detail, by the Promised Messiah (as) in his book 'The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam'. I think the second question he raised can answer your question. You are a grown-up, educated person you should read 'The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam' and there you would find the answer.”

Huzoor (aba) said the answer needed a detailed response that would take more time. He, therefore, asked Fiaz to read The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam and if he did not understand it he could write to Huzoor (aba) for clarification.

Al-Hakam (12th March, Atfal USA)
  • QUESTION: Mubashir Khalid, aged 15, asked Huzoor (aba) that since Allah knew that humans were His ultimate creation, why did He create animals before humans that are now extinct.
Huzoor (aba) replied: “He knew that those animals which are now extinct, their bodies will be used for you [human beings], as you see [in] the [case of] fossil fuel. Dinosaurs and other animals died […] Allah the Exalted created them to make proper use of their bodies, and now you are benefiting from that fossil fuel which was produced by those animals or all those creatures which were present in the olden days and now they are extinct. This is why, Allah the Exalted made a plan in such a way that when human beings come to the stage where they have perfect knowledge of using good things or things that are buried in the ground, so He will let them make good use of it. Now this is the mercy of Allah the Exalted that He created some animals or some life on this earth and now that life is extinct, and now human beings are benefiting from it. Now you should thank Allah the Exalted that, before the invention of the cars and the engine, He had planned in such a way that you can get oil from the soil […] Allah the Exalted’s plan is such that whatever is buried underground, under the soil, is being used by us. Instead of asking questions, you should be thankful to Allah the Exalted that you came afterwards, and you are making use of those extinct animals by using their residue in the shape of fossil fuel.”

  • QUESTION: Salman Momin, aged 11, asked Huzoor (aba) if it was permissible to eat at a Christian friend’s house as they pray and may say the name of Jesus upon their food.
Huzoor (aba) explained: “When they are cooking, they might say they have taken the name of Jesus. Normally they do not do [this]. So, creating so many things in your mind, developing something in your mind that ‘they might have done this thing or that thing,’ [is unnecessary]. As I just mentioned in my last sermon, yesterday’s sermon (11 March 2022), Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra) said to the army people that ‘whatever food is given to you by the local people, you say بسم‭ ‬الله‭ ‬الرحمن‭ ‬الرحيم‭  ‬ and eat it.’ So, instead of going into a detailed investigation and becoming curious about it, [thinking] ‘they might have done this thing or that thing,’ you just say بسم‭ ‬الله‭ ‬الرحمن‭ ‬الرحيم‭ ‬ and eat it. Then the food is pure for you. You can eat it. No problem! Even if you do not go to a Christian’s house, you buy food from Nando’s or buy burgers or anything from service stations. Do you know [whether] the person who prepared that food might have said the name of Jesus Christ on that food? So, do not try to be so curious about these things. Just say Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim and eat it.

But, if you know – clearly know – that this animal has been slaughtered in the name of something which is other than Allah the Exalted, then do not partake [of it].”

  • QUESTION: Ahmad Nun, aged 10, asked Huzoor (aba) how to maintain a peaceful and loving environment with siblings. Huzoor (aba) asked if his siblings were older or younger. He replied by saying that one was older and two were younger.
Huzoor (aba) smiled and explained: “You should show patience. You [should] respect your brother or sister who is older than you and also be kind to those who are younger. And whenever they say something wrong, you [should] always show patience. Your tolerance level should be very high. And, also at the same time, when you see something wrong in them, and they are teasing you, you get annoyed, then say:

اَسْتَغفِرُاللهَ‭ ‬رَبِّيْ‭ ‬مِنْ‭ ‬كُلِّ‭ ‬ذَنْبٍ‭ ‬وَّاَتُوْبُ‭ ‬اِلَيْه

“And at the same time, you should pray in your prayers that you always get good things from your siblings, and neither you make them unhappy, nor they make you unhappy and that both of you may live together amicably, in a friendly manner, in a brotherly manner. So, the thing is that an Ahmadi boy or girl, man or woman, [should] show patience, and their patience level should be very high. If you develop that one, then you will not get annoyed or you will not take revenge from your brothers and sisters.”

  • QUESTION: Naweed Ahmad asked that since Allah initiated all religions, was it correct to say that all religions lead to Allah Almighty.
Huzoor (aba) responded: “Yes. It is correct, provided they [followers of other faiths] do not deviate from the original teachings. All the prophets came with the message of prophethood from Allah the Exalted. And they all announced that ‘You [should] worship the One God and don’t make partners with Him’ and they clearly said that ‘we are the messengers of Allah the Exalted’ and they also said that ‘we have come for our people, to guide them’ and quite a number of prophets have prophesied that a prophet will come in the Latter Days and who will be the Prophet (sa) of God but not for the local people, [not only] for their own people, but for the whole of the mankind. And this prophecy was made by Moses (as), by Jesus (as) Christ, and so many other prophets. So, although Moses brought the same message, Jesus brought the same message, Krishna brought the same message, Confucius brought the same message, but they also prophesied about the coming of a prophet who will be the universal prophet. And none of their books has ever claimed that they are the prophets for the whole of mankind.

Even in the Bible, Jesus (as) Christ has categorically said that ‘I am only the prophet for my own people, for my own tribes.’ But it is the Qur'an which claims that the Holy Prophet (sa) has come for the whole of mankind. He has been sent by Allah the Exalted for the whole of mankind. He is a mercy for the whole of mankind. So, despite the fact that all the religions are true religions, but, one thing is, that they have deviated from their true teachings.

Secondly, they never claimed that they came, or they were sent by Allah the Exalted for the whole of the mankind; but the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was sent – and it is a claim of the Holy Qur'an – it has been categorically announced by himself as well and it is written in the Holy Qur'an very clearly that the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is the mercy for the whole of mankind. He has been sent for the whole of mankind as the Warner and the Giver of glad tidings.

So, this is why we say despite the fact that all the religions were true religions but now their teachings have been corrupted by their followers. And it so happened that some of the traditions also entered into the Islamic teachings. This is why it was the promise of Allah the Exalted to the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that in the Latter Days a person who will be the lover and the follower of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, will be sent by Allah the Exalted as the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, and if there is any corruption in the religious teachings in Islam then he will rectify it and he will revive the religion. So, now, Islam is the true religion that is in its original shape. There is no book of the previous prophets that is in its original shape. It is only the Holy Qur'an that is in its original shape. And our opponents even accept this thing that there has never been any change in the Qur'an despite the fact that there had been some temptations to change it. And it is the claim of Allah the Exalted, in the Holy Qur'an, that the Qur'an will never be changed, and this is why we see that even today the Holy Quran is in the same form as it was revealed to the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

This is why we say that Islam is the final religion and that was the claim of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and that has been announced by Allah the Exalted and it was even prophesied by the previous Prophets.”

  • QUESTION: Tamim Butt, 9, said that every Friday, he had a test in school. He added that if he was to attend Jumuah, it would have a negative effect on his grades. He asked Huzoor (aba) what he should do regarding this matter.
Huzoor (aba) advised: “[…] You can ask your teacher if it is possible to take your test one day before. Or if not then – okay, you can sit in your test. And Allah the Exalted knows your intention that you want to offer the Friday prayer but Allah the Exalted will – if you have a good intention and you want to offer the Friday prayer and because of your schedule in the school or the programme in the school or because of the test you cannot attend the Friday prayer – then Allah the Exalted will forgive you. And you [should] also pray that they change the date of the tests so that you are able to attend Jumuah prayer. So, next year you will be free [to do so]. They will change your timetable next year. It is not necessary that next year you will also have tests on Friday. You can wait till next year. […] Pray to Allah the Exalted that he helps you to change this timetable.”

  • QUESTION: Fateh Ahmad Nun, 11, asked Huzoor (aba) if ordinary people could see angels.
Huzoor (aba) explained: “Angels do not have physical bodies, but whenever they are seen – by the prophets even – that is a vision […] Nobody can [physically] see angels. Only, sometimes the whole atmosphere is created in such a way that sometimes you are sitting with a prophet, you may see the angels as it happened during the time of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Sometimes, his Companions used to see the angel Jibrael while sitting in the company of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. But that was just the vision, not that some physical body was there who descended from heaven and made the shape of a human being, no. That was a sort of vision or ilhaam [revelation] or something like that. Nobody can see angels in a physical shape because they are not like human beings. You can only see angels in your dream if it is a true dream; or, whenever you receive any message from Allah the Exalted, or you see a vision.”

Al-Hakam (13th March, Khuddam USA)
  • QUESTION: Nauman Farid expressed that he offered his five daily prayers regularly and at times tahajud prayers too. However, sometimes he felt as if his heart was not present in the prayer and wanted to take a break. He asked Huzoor (aba) what to do in such a situation.
Huzoor (aba) said: “A true believer should always be consistent in his worship. If you believe that it is Allah the Almighty Who is the Lord of the world – Heaven and the earth – then it will come into your mind immediately that I should bow before Him, I should pray to Him. “If you think that Allah is the One Who is providing you everything – He is the Provider and Sustainer – then you will bow before Him. So always try to remember the attributes of Allah the Almighty.

“Since you are a grown-up boy now – I think you are 15 or 16 – so when you’re praying, you [should] also pray to Allah the Almighty that He gives you the strength to be steadfast in your prayers, in remembering Allah.

“If you want Allah the Almighty you have to ask Allah that it should never happen that you lose Him. And if you pray to him fervently in this manner, then I don’t think you will ever have any desire to have a break to offer any of your prayer.”

“If you need Allah the Almighty you have to say to Allah that you need Him. Then He will help you.

“And because at that time, you might be busy in either your studies, or any book which you like more, or any TV programme, or any programme on your tablet or iPad or somewhere, which you think should be given more preference than the prayer. If that be the case, then you will lose. Even during the prayer time, you leave everything and pray to Allah the Almighty that Allah always keeps you to steadfast in your prayers.”

  • QUESTION:  Iqaan Ahmad asked Huzoor (aba) what his most memorable experience was with any of the previous Khulafa.
Huzoor (aba) said: “There are quite a number of memories. A very light moment I can tell you. In 1993 I was here, I had a chance to go to the North [of the UK] with Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V. There we did some hiking or mountaineering […] So, I enjoyed that trip. And there were so many light moments at that time and he was very much free with me at that time. There are some moments like this which I enjoyed. So I can tell you only this much – if I go into the detail of it then the secrets of some other people will come out and I don’t want to disclose it.”

  • QUESTION:  Raghib Shahid, a 19 year old student, asked Huzoor (aba) how one could overcome bad habits that were affecting spirituality.
Huzoor (aba) said: “For that Allah the Almighty says you should do more istighfar. And istighfar, where it saves you, and you get the forgiveness of Allah from your previous sins, it also saves you from all those sins which may occur in your life. You should do istighfar:

اَسْتَغْفِرُ‭ ‬اللّٰهَ‭ ‬رَبِّىْ‭ ‬مِنْ‭ ‬كلّ‭ ‬ذَنبٍ‭ ‬وَّاَتُوْبُ‭ ‬اِلَيْهِ
[I seek forgiveness of Allah, my Lord, for all my sins, and turn towards Him.]

“And you should know the meaning of it. And if you’re doing it fervently and you are remembering Allah the Almighty, and even during your five daily prayers you pray to Allah that Allah saves you from all these things, then Allah will save you.

“And never ever try to see the programmes on your internet, on your media, on your television which can lead you to go astray. There are good websites also. Never ever open any bad website, any link, which can lead you to the bad things.

“And try to read the Holy Qur'an daily and know the meaning of it also. Now you are grown up Masha-Allah with a beautiful beard.”

“At this age, you should also try to give some time to increase your religious knowledge. And make it a point that you will never lose your five daily prayer; you will never miss any prayer during the day and you will offer your five daily prayers regularly. And pray to Allah the Almighty in your prayers as well, when you are in sajdah position, that Allah saves you from all the bad things of the society.

“It is only Allah Who can help us. Otherwise, the society we are living in is such that if we are relaxed, even a little relaxation can just ruin us – ruin our religion, our life. […] We have to be very much careful and vigilant.

“To save yourself from Satan is very much difficult and without Allah’s help, without prayer, without involving yourself in learning more about the Qur'anic commandments or other religious literature, you cannot save yourself.

“You should try to find some time, spare some time you give to your religious studies and that will also increase you in your faith.

“Always say:

أَعُوذُ‭ ‬بِاللّٰهِ‭ ‬مِنَ‭ ‬الشَّيْطَانِ‭ ‬الرَّجِيمِ

“And:

  • QUESTION:  Jasim Ijaz Sahib from Houston said that in the Western world it was difficult to lower one’s gaze as society was overwhelmed with unavoidable forms of media in every direction. He asked Huzoor (aba) how one could ensure modesty and lower one’s gaze in such an atmosphere.
Huzoor (aba) noted that lowering one’s gaze was no more limited to settings outside the house like shopping malls or streets, rather:“Even at home also when you’re watching your television it becomes very much difficult because suddenly such types of scenes come on the screen which a pious-natured person would loathe seeing. This is why you should try to avoid seeing these programmes on the television or Internet, or any of this media.

“Secondly, when you are walking on the streets then don’t open your eyes once you see somebody. It is true that if you close your eyes you will collide with somebody […] so ‘lower your gaze’ means you can open your eyes – not wide-opened eyes – see that you are just seeing the way, not the person. You have to avoid it.

“At the same time, you should also do istighfar that Allah the Almighty saves you from any bad scene which you may come across on the way.”

Huzoor (aba) noted that one could not lower their gaze completely while walking outside as this would lead to accidents and more harm. Huzoor (aba) said ‘lower your gaze’ meant seeing the way clearly but with a blurred vision too and with half-opened eyes so that the complete feature of a person could not be seen.

Huzoor (aba) said to always engage in istighfar while outside and to recite:

لا‭ ‬حَوْلَ‭ ‬وَلا‭ ‬قُوَّةَ‭ ‬إِلَّا‭ ‬باللّٰهِ
“There is no power nor strength except by Allah”

Huzoor (aba) continued: “This is the only way to save yourself, otherwise Satan will always incite you to see these things. Here, in this world, only istighfar and prayer to Allah the Almighty can save you from these things.

“Otherwise, yes, you are right, that no person can be saved.”

  • QUESTION:  Umar Chaudhry Sahib from Detroit said there were Khuddam who felt there was no good marital matches for them within the Jama'at, therefore they sought other girls outside the Jama'at. He asked for Huzoor’s advice to such Khuddam.
Huzoor (aba) said: “How do you know that this rishta [match] is good for you and that is not good for you?”

Huzoor (aba) said the Holy Prophet (sa) said a person married for four reasons and out of those the Holy Prophet (sa) selected the criteria which a true Muslim should focus on when finding a marriage match. A person married a woman for either beauty, wealth or because of her family. The Holy Prophet (sa) however said “A true Muslim, a true believer should prefer to marry a girl who is pious and more inclined towards religious things. And she’s a true believer.”

Huzoor (aba) said that if boys started searching for girls who were true believers, it would mean the boys would also have to reform themselves. They should also try to be pious, good-natured and practising Muslims, like the girls they were seeking. Huzoor (aba) said:

“This is the only solution which can solve this problem. But the problem here is that boys themselves are deviating from the true teaching of Islam and Ahmadiyyat. They are more inclined towards worldly things than religion. And the same is with the girls to some extent – if not one hundred per cent like boys. Both of you will have to change your mindset that you should give preference to your religion over all other things.

“If you bring your mind to such a position and your mindset is such that you are not going to prefer anything else but the religion, then this problem can be solved. Otherwise, if you marry a girl who is not from the Jama'at, you are going to affect your progeny. Your children may go astray. They may leave the Jama'at. They will not follow the religion which you are following.
“For that instead of only following our emotions and sentiments and worldly things, we should prefer religion more than anything else. And that is the only solution, otherwise no, after some generations you would see that your progeny has left the religion, has left the Jama'at. Even have forgotten to bow before Allah the Almighty and practise the teachings of Islam.

“Every big thing needs some sacrifice. If you are determined to do sacrifice for the safety of your next generation, then you should marry those girls who are Ahmadis – and among Ahmadis even those girls who are religious minded and of pious nature.

“And in this way, both of you – boys and girls – will start reforming themselves. They will be inclined more towards religion than anything else. And this is how we can save our next generation, this is how we can save ourselves, this is how we can save our religion.

“Otherwise, there is no other way.”

Al-Hakam (19th March – Khuddam, USA)
  • QUESTION:  Raza Ahmad Sahib asked: “What is the best way to offer tahajjud prayer and how can we build a habit to offer tahajjud regularly?” He also asked how Huzoor (aba) offered tahajjud.
Huzoor (aba) said: “If you are determined that you have to offer tahajjud prayer regularly, then before going to bed you pray to Allah the Almighty that Allah helps you and wakes you up on time. Use three to four alarms on your iPhone or iPad. I think that will help you to make you get up at that time. “It all depends on your determination; to do something good needs determination, otherwise, you cannot do [it].”

With a smile, Huzoor (aba) then remarked: “And you say how do I do it? I also use the same method.”

  • QUESTION:  Uwais Mirza from Central Jersey asked, “What role does the Holy Qur'an play in the life of a student?”.
Huzoor said: “The Holy Qur'an says:

فَاسۡتَبِقُوا‭ ‬الۡخَيۡرٰتِ

“[Meaning] excel in your good deeds. You will have to find out what are the good deeds and what are the bad things. The Holy Qur'an says you strive hard, you work hard, you try to excel in every field.

“Being a Muslim you should be among the top-most people. […] you will have to increase your knowledge, you will have to excel yourself in your faith, you will have to be determined in doing good things – that is that guidance given to us in the Holy Qur'an:

فَاسۡتَبِقُوا‭ ‬الۡخَيۡرٰتِ

“Means strive hard for gaining the good things. And you know what is good for a student. The first thing is, what is good for a good Muslim? To worship Allah the Almighty, to follow His commandments, to become morally good – practise good things.

“And then to also increase in the field you are working in. If you are a student you work hard, if you are doing some job you be honest to your job, if you are an employee or businessman you have to be honest. This is the guideline given to us in the Holy Qur'an.”

Huzoor (aba) asked Uwais Sahib, “As a student, what is your desire? Don’t you want to be among those people who excel in their studies?” Uwais Sahib replied in the affirmative to which Huzoor (aba) said: “That is what the Holy Qur'an says.”

  • QUESTION:  Ali Chaudhry from Virginia asked what the Islamic teachings were for getting rid of addictions.
Huzoor (aba) said:  “Again, I would say ‘determination’. As I have already said, any good thing requires determination and steadfastness. Once you achieve that goal, then you have to be steadfast.

“The first thing is that if you know that these are the bad things, you have to hate them, loathe them. Then be determined that you are not going to indulge yourself in these things.

“Thirdly, pray to Allah the Almighty that Allah keeps you away from all these things and make you steadfast in it.

“Then avoid all those people – your fellow students or others – who are involved in these bad things. There are good students in your school and college and university, if you want to make friends, you try to make friends from among those people who are good in their moral character. And if you see anything wrong in them after having known them, then you just leave them till the time they reform themselves or they involve themselves in doing other things.

“It all depends on your company as well. Your company counts very much. If you have good friends, that will help you.

“And also pray to Allah the Almighty that Allah helps you in this regard. This is the only way. Otherwise, in this present-day world, it’s too hard to get rid of these things. It is only Allah Who can help you, and your determination and steadfastness.”

  • QUESTION:  Damon Stengal Sahib from Oshkosh asked: “What is the best way for a Khadim to avoid the trap of materialism in America?”
Huzoor (aba) responded by saying: “Not only in America, everywhere in the world – all the Western world or all those countries where religion is being neglected; no proper attention is being paid to the religion.

“[…] We cannot do anything in this world without the help of Allah the Almighty. There are so many attractions in this world, at every corner, after every small distance there are so many attractions [that] will attract you and will take you away from your purpose of life. If you realise the purpose of your life, Allah says in the Holy Qur'an:

وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ‮ ‬الۡجِنَّ‮ ‬وَالۡاِنۡسَ‮ ‬اِلَّا‭ ‬لِيَعۡبُدُوۡنِ
“‘I have not created Jinn and human beings’ but to worship Allah the Almighty.

“If you are fervently praying to Allah that Allah keeps you away from all the bad things of the society then whether it is in America or elsewhere, and even in the Third World, or anywhere else […] then Allah will help you.

“And as I have already said, again, ‘determination’ – you have to be determined. This is the only solution.

“Without the help of Allah the Almighty we cannot avoid all these things. And when you are praying, [you] not only pray to Allah the Almighty and you say that ‘I prayed to Allah in my five daily prayers and I did tahajjud also but still I am not saved from these things.’ No. Then again; determination. You, yourself will have to avoid these things, keep your distance from these things.

“Allah the Almighty says in another place that Allah will show you His way when you are steadfast in your practice. Then Allah will guide you. First, you will have to take action, take a step, then Allah will bless that step, that action.

“Only prayers cannot work, nor only your action can work – both should go together. Then Allah will help you to keep you away from the bad things of the society.”

  • QUESTION:  Umar Kamal Sahib from Harrisburg asked Huzoor (aba) how one could protect themselves from subtle influences of shirk [associating partners with God] in everyday life. Kamal Sahib said an example of this was when people spoke about Jesus (as) in a way that would be considered shirk.
Huzoor (aba) said: “If somebody believes that Hazrat Isa is the son of God then he has the right to believe whatever he likes. But you can just tell him what your belief is. If you are saying ‘Yes, what you are saying is right’ or when the Bible is being read in school and you say ‘Yes, Jesus is the son of God’ then it is shirk. You can just keep quiet at that time. And when you are sitting with your friends then you tell them that ‘This is your belief, this is my belief. We consider him as the prophet of God.’

“So you can tell your opinion according to your religion, otherwise, you cannot just fight them or tell them ‘you are doing wrong’ – [there’s] no need to create the atmosphere of tension and fighting or quarrel or something like that. […]

“If somebody is saying that he is the son of God, then what does it matter? How does it affect you? There are quite a number of people who have told me Jesus is the son of God. Then what does this matter?

“We have our own belief, we are firm in our belief. […] If he is a very close friend of yours, then you can tell that ‘no, this is my opinion and this is more logical.’ And if you that by confronting him some tension can be created at that time, then avoid that place.”

  • QUESTION:  Abeer Sahib asked Huzoor (aba) how he could best control his anger and temper?
Lovingly Huzoor (aba) said: “I hope my words did not make you angry.” Abeer Sahib Sahib smiled and expressed that the words did not make him angry.

Huzoor (aba) continued: “If my words did not make you angry, then you should use the same attitude  everywhere. You see, I asked you some questions and I did not know how you will react with regards to this and I don’t know much about your attitude towards these things. Even then you did not show any anger. So, you should try to adopt the same attitude everywhere.”

Further advising on how to control anger, Huzoor (aba) sad:

“To avoid anger you should do more istighfar. […] and you should know the meaning of istighfar, not only [to repeat] ‘astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah’ as politicians or so-called clerics or mullahs use it.

“You should know:

“‘O Allah, forgive me all my sins and save me from anything bad that come before me in my future life’. So you should know the meaning. […]

“There was a politician in Pakistan who would always use prayer beads in his hand – just moving them – and somebody asked that ‘You just move the beads at such a speed that nobody can say any prayer on it, what do you say? What do you read?’ The politician said ‘I read Ayatul Kursi’. So the person asked ‘How can you read Ayatul Kursi in such a fast manner, so quickly?’ The reply was that ‘I just say kursi, kursi, kursi’.

“‘Kursi’ means ‘chair’ – so politicians want [a] chair.”

All the Khuddam thoroughly enjoyed the joke. Huzoor (aba) continued by saying istighfar should not be recited in such a meaningless verbal chant, rather "you should know the meaning of it.”

  • QUESTION:  Rashid Nasir Sahib from Richmond asked Huzoor (aba) how they could spread Huzoor’s guidance about the war between Russia and Ukraine to their elected officials.
Huzoor (aba) said: “My statement was issued at the very beginning. So, you should spread that message to your politicians, to your leaders, and tell them to avoid this war otherwise there is going to be very big havoc. The world is going to face something which will take years to re-develop it, to come back to the present position.

“And not only that […] but our future generations will also suffer. If the world war erupts then they will definitely use – if not nuclear weapons – at least chemical weapons and that will also leave a very bad effect on our future generation. So not only on us but our future generation as well.

“Tell them. The message is already there, my statement is already there, so you can spread that message.”

Al-Hakam (20th March – Atfal, Norway)
  • QUESTION:  Faran Nasir asked sought guidance on how he should prepare himself for Jamia.
Huzoor (aba) said: “Pray to Allah Almighty that, ‘My heart desires that I go to Jamia, [thus, O Allah,] make my heart resolute and firm upon [the intention] to go to Jamia’. Do not be double-minded: ‘Should I go to university or to Jamia? Should I pursue worldly education or [religious] education at Jamia?’ Make a plan and stick to it and ask Allah Almighty for help and pray to Allah Almighty.”

  • QUESTION:  Muaz Ahmad asked why the disbelievers spread the false news on the occasion of the Battle of Uhud that the Holy Prophet (sa) had died.
Huzoor (aba) answered that those disbelievers spread this lie “because they thought that if we spread [the false news] that the Prophet (sa) had died and was martyred during the battle, then Muslims would lose heart and they would cease to fight. They would accept their defeat and start following them; they would obey the disbelievers and leave Islam because [the disbelievers] had killed the Prophet (sa), God forbid, which would mean that he was not a true prophet. However, this does not matter as prophets can also be killed. However, Allah the Exalted was to keep the Holy Prophet (sa) alive until the sharia was fully established; until Allah had revealed the entire Quran to him.”

  • QUESTION:  Yunus Yilmaz asked how one would worship Allah in the next life.
Huzoor (aba) said: “After your death, in the next world, when you are in paradise, then you do not need any specific time for worship. Your every moment there will be as if you are doing ‘ibadat [worship]. So, there, you will always remember Allah the Exalted, you will always say good things, all your deeds will be good. This is why Allah the Exalted will also increase your status there in paradise. So, there will be no specific ‘ibadat like we do here in this world. Our every moment there will be ‘ibadat. So, we will be free from that type of ‘ibadat which we do here; but our every deed and action will be such that it will please Allah the Exalted, and Allah will be happy with us.”

  • QUESTION:  Yusuf Yilmaz asked Huzoor (aba) how many angels were working for Allah.
Huzoor (aba) said: “There are quite a number of angels. We cannot count them. There are some angels who are the leaders: Gabriel and Azrael. Such types of angels are the leaders of all the angels and quite a number of angels are working under them. For each and every person, there is an angel. If they put something good in your mind, in your heart, that means that it came through the angel to you. If there is any bad thing that comes into your mind, [it means that] it came from Satan. So, try to follow the instructions of angels. Always do good deeds and whenever it comes into your mind that these are the good things that we should do [for example] we should offer five daily prayers, we should read the Qur'an, we should obey our elders, we should respect our elders and parents, and we should not fight nor quarrel with our fellow students or friends, we should work hard in our studies, we should obey teachers — all these things, whenever it comes into your mind — that means these things were told to you or came into your mind through the angels. So, numerous angels are working. We cannot count them. There is a team of angels under every big leader of angels.”

  • QUESTION:  Faran Ahmad requested Huzoor (aba) to explain ethics and morals and how these are a part of one’s daily activities and life.
Huzoor (aba) explained: “[…] There are more than 700 commandments given in the Holy Qur'an, and Allah the Exalted has told us what the good things are and what the bad things are.

“So, all those things which Allah the Exalted has commanded us to do are the good things, are the good morals. And all those things which Allah the Exalted has asked us to refrain from, they are the bad things.

“You must understand that you claim yourself to be a Muslim. A good Muslim should be morally good. Allah the Exalted says that you have two duties: one, to worship Allah the Exalted and discharge the rights of Allah the Exalted, that is, all the rights you owe with regards to Allah the Exalted. Secondly, you [should] discharge your duties towards your fellow beings. Always think good of and do good to your fellow beings, [and] every creation of Allah the Exalted.

“There are some moral duties; you have to be good with your friends, as I have already said, worship Allah the Exalted, obey your parents, respect your elders, respect your teachers, give due attention to your studies and try to excel in your knowledge, both religious and secular. So, these are the things that make you morally good. And always see what are the bad things which can corrupt your morals.

“In this present-day world, if you are watching television shows which are not good for your education and they are deviating you from doing good things, they are morally corrupting you and they are trying to involve you in the evil things of the society, then never watch them. Never watch those programmes on the internet or on social media which can spoil your morals, which are not good for you, which let you go astray, and cause you to deviate from your fundamental religious teachings.

“You are a grown-up now, being almost 15 years old. So, you should know what the good things are, and the good morals you have to adopt in order to discharge your duties accordingly.

“Always see what Allah the Exalted likes from you. We claim ourselves to be Muslims. So, if you are a true Muslim, you [must] discharge your duty to Allah the Exalted and you [should] discharge your duties you owe to your fellow beings, and always be good and kind to your fellow beings. Then [if you do all these], it means you are morally good. And never ever indulge yourself in bad things of the society and always try to find out the commandments given to us in the Holy Quran. We have a guideline before us and that is the Holy Qur'an. Now, you should try to learn the meaning of the Holy Qur'an. Find out all the dos and don’ts given in the Holy Qur'an and then follow them.”

  • QUESTION:  Danish Ahmad asked Huzoor (aba) who was considered a martyr [shaheed] in the eyes of Allah.
Huzoor (aba) said: “There are various people; those who do jihad [struggle] in the way of Allah are also martyrs. Sometimes, those who travel on a path, who do not fight a regular battle, but they undertake their journey for the sake of Allah, [to do] some work in the way of Allah, and if [on this journey] they die, they also become martyrs. Sometimes, someone who may die in an accident is a martyr, if their journey was in the cause of Allah. And similarly, sometimes those who die from certain diseases are martyrs. So, there are different people [who are considered martyrs]. When one embarks on some work for the sake of Allah Almighty and for the sake of gaining His pleasure, if at that time death comes to such a one, however, it may be, he or she will be considered a martyr.”

  • QUESTION: A young tifl, Danish, asked Huzoor (aba) how Allah was created and what His colour was.
Huzoor (aba) replied:  “No one can see Allah Almighty [physically]. Allah Almighty has always existed […] We cannot see Allah Almighty because He is a light [Noor], and a different being that is not a physical body. So, we cannot even recognise His colour. […] Pray and ask Allah, ‘Tell me how You will speak to me’. Pray to Allah Almighty that ‘Instil Your love in my heart.’ When you begin to love Allah, you will find out for yourself what Allah Almighty looks like […].”

Huzoor (aba) further said, “God is everywhere,” and added that when he grew older, he would understand more. “Masha-Allah! you are quite smart,” Huzoor (aba) said.

  • QUESTION:  Athar Ahmad asked Huzoor (aba) if the international Jalsa Salana would take place in England this year.
Huzoor (aba) answered: “Jalsa shall be held, Insha-Allah. The decision as to whether it will be an international [Jalsa] and whether people [from abroad] will be allowed to attend it or not, shall be disclosed at a later time. If it is [an international Jalsa], it will be for a limited number of people. Not everyone will have open permission [to attend].”

  • QUESTION:  Qasid Ahmad asked Huzoor (aba) how long it took him to prepare his Friday sermons.
Huzoor (aba) replied: “It can take anywhere between four to twenty hours.”

  • QUESTION:  Muhammad Hamza asked if it was permissible to paint a picture of oneself.
Huzoor (aba) explained: “Do not have it made by a painter. If you are very fond of pictures, then take them with a camera. In paintings, there definitely remain some or the other shortcoming that does not reflect your true expression. No matter how good the painter, there will be some shortcomings somewhere. Therefore, it is permissible to take pictures with a camera. Paintings should be avoided in general. Only and unless the painter is perfect in his or her craft, then you may have your own portrait created by them if you so desire but only keep it with you. Do not make one of anyone else. However, it is better to take it with a camera.”

  • QUESTION:  Muhammad Umar asked Huzoor (aba) what he could do to become the delight of his parents’ eyes.
Huzoor (aba) explained:  “Offer salat, in this way you will please Allah. Do good deeds and Allah will be pleased. Speak good words, recite the Holy Qur'an, and Allah will be happy. Treat people with good manners, and Allah Almighty will also be pleased. Obey your parents, and Allah Almighty will be happy, as I have said before. Pay attention to your studies. Participate in good exercises. Do not waste time watching many shows on TV and the Internet, and Allah will be pleased with you too. And the things that please Allah will also please your mother and father if they are pious people; and, in this way, you will become the delight of their eyes.

“And it is the duty of parents to pray for you so that you may be the delight of their eyes. This is the prayer that the Holy Qur'an has taught. Parents should pray that their children become the delight of their eyes. So, tell your mother and father to pray for you that you may become the delight of their eyes.”
