Education and Knowledge
In Islam, education is EQUALLY important for MEN & WOMEN
- The seeking and excellence of education for all have been highlighted in various ways in the Holy Qur’an and Ahadith (sayings of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
- Islam has a contemporary outlook for worldly as well as religious education which encompasses every aspect leading to a rewarding end enlightening temporal and spiritual life.
- Below, we start with two Qur'anic prayers and continue with quotes from the Ahadith and others for children and students to benefit from, especially throughout their academic life and indeed beyond — as one is never too old to learn or impart knowledge to others.
- May God bless all those who recite these regularly with success in various academia and any other ventures where knowledge plays a crucial part in their personal development.
The Holy Qur'an
The words O my Lord, increase me in knowledge, shows the great importance the Qur'an has placed in pursuit of knowledge."The verse also implies that all knowledge is of two kinds: (a) that which is vouchsafed to man through revelation and which has found its perfect manifestation in the Qur'an which is the last and most perfect Divine teaching; (b) that which man acquires by how own effort and labour. It is this second kind of knowledge for the acquisition of which man is enjoined in the present verse to make ceaseless effort. The verse also implies that the Qur'an will come to be increasingly read and followed." (The Holy Qur'an with English Translation and Commentary. Vol. 4, pg.1660)
AHadith
His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad – (Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community)
His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, said in a virtual class.
“Always remember that the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) was given a revelation by God Almighty that, “He is pleased with your humble ways.” And so be humble. Never succumb to arrogance upon gaining knowledge. Other than that, whilst being truly consumed with humility, be mindful of the words of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) that “I was poor and helpless; unknown and without skills.’” |
