*Summarised Answers*

  • (1) How can we develop such love for Allah and His chosen ones that we see them in our dreams?
Huzoor (aba) explained that developing true love for Allah and His chosen ones comes through building a deep, consistent relationship similar to the natural attachment one develops with close family over a lifetime.

Huzoor (aba) said that the Promised Messiah (as) explained that seeing the Holy Prophet (sa) in a dream is not in itself a great achievement, nor can one always be certain whether what was seen is accurate. The real virtue lies in acting upon their teachings and commandments. The real measure of love is obedience following their teachings, strengthening one’s prayers and living a life in accordance with faith. By regularly offering prayers with sincerity, increasing remembrance of God and sending blessings upon the Holy Prophet (sa), a person gradually grows closer to Allah.

Huzoor (aba) emphasised that if someone is granted such dreams, it is a special blessing from Allah, but it is a higher spiritual state and not something to seek or depend upon. What truly matters is that a person feels inner peace, contentment and a stronger connection with God through their actions and sincerity. He also explained that even occasional good dreams can be taken as a sign of Allah’s grace, but the real focus should remain on continuous effort in practicing faith.

Overall, Huzoor (aba) taught that closeness to Allah is built through sincere love, obedience and consistent righteous action. Dreams may come as a blessing, but true success lies in living the teachings and developing a genuine, lasting relationship with God.

  • (2) How can we eliminate even subtle forms of arrogance within us?
Huzoor (aba) emphasised that while the true state of a person's heart is known only to Allah, an individual must remain proactive in their spiritual health. He noted that if a person sincerely seeks forgiveness, strives to avoid sin and makes a conscious effort to shun arrogance, they can hope for the mercy of Allah, who is the Most Forgiving.

Drawing from the teachings of the Promised Messiah (as), Huzoor (aba) explained that a person should:

– Always consider themselves lower and more humble than others.
– Actively suppress thoughts of pride the moment they arise.
– Understand that true closeness to Allah is achieved only through such humility.

Huzoor (aba) highlighted that even in situations where one’s ego is provoked, such as disagreements or success, a person should control themselves and choose humility over pride. He gave the example of the Promised Messiah (as), who demonstrated humility even in debate for the sake of pleasing Allah.

A critical warning was given regarding success and recognition. Huzoor (aba) observed that achievements often lead people to falsely believe in their own superior knowledge or abilities. To counter this, one must constantly remind themselves that all success originates from Allah and not from any personal merit.

  • (3) How can someone find reassurance and peace after missing Friday prayer due to an emergency?
Huzoor (aba) provided reassurance by emphasising that Allah is never unjust and is fully aware of an individual’s specific circumstances and limitations. He explained that if a person misses the Friday prayer due to a genuine emergency or illness despite having a sincere intention to attend, they are not held accountable. This is because a fundamental principle in Islam dictates that actions are judged by intentions; therefore, a pure heart ensures that the person’s devotion is still accepted by God.

Huzoor (aba) said that this is why it is not stated that missing one Friday prayer causes spiritual harm. Rather, if someone deliberately neglects three consecutive Friday prayers, then it affects the heart. This shows that if one misses it due to genuine difficulty, there is no blame. He went on to say that even in such circumstances, a person can still engage in remembrance of God, supplication and seeking forgiveness. Allah is Most Forgiving and continues to grant reward. If someone is sincere, Allah can grant them reward even beyond expectation.

  • (4) How can we preserve strong personal relationships within the Jama’at when modern communication is reducing direct personal connections?
Huzoor (aba) explained that the impact of modern communication on relationships is largely a matter of perspective, noting that digital tools can actually serve as a means to increase love rather than diminish it. He likened instant messaging to the traditional practice of letter writing which was once considered "half a meeting" suggesting that the speed and warmth of modern responses can create an immediate sense of connection and care. Huzoor (aba) shared his own experience of feeling deep love and praying for the thousands of people who write to him daily, even those he has never met, illustrating that sincere communication strengthens spiritual bonds.

Huzoor (aba) advised that one should consciously maintain this feeling of brotherhood praying for others, thinking well of them and wishing for them what one wishes for oneself. This naturally builds love in the heart. At the same time, he acknowledged that meeting in person is also important. Attending prayers, Friday congregations, community gatherings and social events helps strengthen bonds. Hosting gatherings, inviting others and spending time together further increases love and unity.

Huzoor (aba) emphasised that love should be for the sake of God. When relationships are built on this foundation, they bring spiritual reward and lasting strength. He also encouraged practical efforts such as organising regular gatherings, helping those who are less able and including everyone so that no one feels left out.

Ultimately, Huzoor (aba) taught that when relationships are built on a foundation of love for the sake of God and include practical efforts to support everyone in the community, they become spiritually rewarding and stay resilient against the challenges of the modern age.

  • (5) Is it permissible to refinance and extend a mortgage in order to use the additional funds to contribute toward a Mosque?
Huzoor (aba) confirmed that while mortgages are generally permitted for personal residences rather than business ventures, it is also permissible to revalue a home and take an additional loan to contribute toward the construction of a mosque. He noted that if an individual is willing to pay a mortgage for their own personal benefit, they should similarly consider spending to help build a house of Allah, which serves as a means of building a home in Paradise.

However, Huzoor (aba) emphasised that this must be approached with caution and personal responsibility. He advised that individuals should not overburden themselves and must carefully assess their financial capacity to ensure repayments can be made comfortably.

In addition, Huzoor (aba), strictly cautioned against any form of misrepresentation or deception when dealing with banks, stating that absolute honesty and transparency are essential requirements of Taqwa.

  • (6) What guidance would Huzoor (aba) give Jama’at members if there were a possible military draft in the USA?
Huzoor (aba) provided guidance based on the Islamic principle of loyalty to one’s country, stating that as long as a person resides in a nation, they must abide by its laws, which includes complying with a military draft. He explained that if an individual cannot in good conscience obey the law of the land, their alternative is to migrate elsewhere. Huzoor (aba) supported this by citing the example of the Holy Prophet (sa), who did not take up arms while living under the government in Makkah, only doing so later to defend his own established state.

Huzoor (aba) clarified that participation in conflict should also be viewed in light of justice. If the cause is just and for the protection of others, then involvement can be justified. However, if the conflict is based on injustice or oppression, one should instead raise awareness and speak out against it through lawful and constructive means.

Regarding the political climate today, Huzoor (aba) advised members to engage in their communities and raise awareness about global injustices. He noted that many people are beginning to recognise that certain actions, such as those associated with Donald Trump or the military actions carried out by Israel, are forms of injustice. He emphasised that the nature of the cause is a critical factor; while fighting for a just cause is permissible, as seen in the history of the Jama’at’s involvement in the Furqan Battalion or the Territorial Force, one should strive against oppression rather than contribute to it.

Concluding, Huzoor (aba) clarified that since compulsory service is not currently enforced, migration is a personal choice. He concluded by stressing the immense power of prayer and said that while personal requests may vary in their acceptance, Allah consistently hears and accepts sincere prayers made for the righteousness and benefit of humanity.

  • (7) In today’s materialistic world, so many youth still feel drawn to meet Huzoor (aba). How does Huzoor (aba) view this?
Huzoor (aba) made mention first of the meeting he had last week with many German and Norwegian Khuddam (there were 104 who came from Germany and 91 from Norway)  and the sessions were held in a hall. Huzoor (aba) said it it made him reflect on how, in this materialistic world, young people are still being drawn towards faith.

Huzoor (aba) said they leave with a strong spiritual impact reinforced by many of the Khuddam who said they truly experienced a renewal of faith after seeing Huzoor (aba).

  • (8) Can we take part in protests?
Huzoor (aba) clarified that participating in protests, such as those organised against political figures like Donald Trump, is permissible provided the demonstrations remain entirely peaceful. He emphasised that such participation must be free from any form of violence, physical altercations, or damage to government property.

Huzoor (aba) supported this stance by referencing historical precedents, noting that the Promised Messiah (as) himself organised and encouraged protests against the oppressive actions of the ruler of Kashmir. He explained that when members seek his guidance on such matters, he encourages a constructive approach; for instance, he has previously authorised the use of banners bearing the motto 'Love for All, Hatred for None' during demonstrations in Germany and the UK.

Ultimately, Huzoor’s (aba) guidance allows for civic engagement as long as it aligns with the principles of peace and avoids any harm to society.

5 QUESTIONS asked:

(1)  What would you advise Ansar who wish to increase their knowledge?
(2)  What is the Islamic teaching regarding asking questions?
(3)  How can we explain the concept of evil eye?
(4)  How can we fulfil the Qur’anic verse “travel through the Earth”?
(5)  How can we resolve a lack of alignment between office holders and Jama’at members?

Summarised answers:
  • (1) What would you advise Ansar who wish to increase their knowledge?
Huzoor (aba) explained that although memory and learning ability may naturally weaken somewhat with age, a person should never stop seeking knowledge. Continuous learning keeps the mind active and prevents mental decline. He referred to the guidance of the Promised Messiah (as), who explained that knowledge acquired in youth remains deeply rooted, while in later years memory can weaken. Huzoor (aba) said the Holy Prophet (sa) said: “...that one should continue seeking knowledge from the cradle (from the time the child is in the cradle) right till the grave.” “The purpose was that knowledge should continually be acquired and expanded.”

Huzoor (aba) explained that when a person continues learning and exercising their mind, Allah also grants them capability and sharpness of intellect. He further said that many professionals, such as doctors and surgeons, remain highly effective even when in their 50’s because they continue updating their knowledge and adapting to new developments. In contrast, when people stop using their minds and become inactive, decline sets in more quickly. Huzoor (aba) said: “Yes, it is true that memory weakens somewhat, but if you completley stop using it, then rust begins to form. Therefore do not allow rust to settle upon it. Continue increasing your knowledge, continue advancing it and keep striving for whatever progress is possible. A person should never be tired.”

  • (2) What is the Islamic teaching regarding asking questions?
Huzoor (aba) explained that Islam encourages the seeking of knowledge and asking questions, particularly with regards matters that increase understanding and strengthen faith. However, there is a difference between beneficial questions and those that can lead a person into unnecessary confusion or spiritual difficulty.

Referring to the example of Prophet Noah (as), Huzoor (aba) clarified that Allah did not forbid asking questions altogether, but rather corrected a question related to a matter beyond human knowledge and divine wisdom. Huzoor (aba) related the account of Noah (as) and his son which is in the link below. He also explained that in certain religious matters, especially those concerning divine law, people should avoid excessive questioning that may create unnecessary hardship or lead them away from obedience.

At the same time, Huzoor (aba) emphasised that in worldly matters and in the pursuit of knowledge, asking questions is essential. Islam teaches believers to continue seeking knowledge throughout life and children especially should be encouraged to ask “why?” so that faith can be explained with wisdom and reason rather than blind instruction.

Huzoor (aba) further advised that parents and elders should strengthen their own religious understanding so they are able to answer questions properly. Simply telling young people not to ask questions can create the impression that religion lacks answers, whereas Islam provides guidance supported by knowledge and reasoning.

  • (3) How can we explain the concept of evil eye?
Huzoor (aba) said that the evil eye is a reality and can affect people, as recognised in Islamic teachings. He stated that there is nothing strange about this, since intense envy, admiration, or negative attention can sometimes have harmful effects.

Huzoor (aba) said that Islam teaches believers to remember Allah when admiring blessings and to avoid becoming prideful or boastful. Huzoor (aba) referred to the example of a farmer who attributes success solely to himself, forgetting Allah, after which misfortune may occur. Therefore, believers are taught to acknowledge that all blessings come from Allah and to seek His protection. Huzoor (aba) said that even a person’s own gaze can cast the evil. “It is mentioned in the Hadith that even a mother’s glance upon her child can have an effect. When a mother begins to think, I nurtured this child in such and such a manner, I did this and that and her gaze effects the child – either the child becomes ill, or his morals deteriorate, or similar things occur. Thus, people can be affected by the evil eye and the remedy for it is that one should pray to Allah and seek refuge in Allah the Almighty, that He may safeguard one from every evil.’”

Huzoor (aba) also explained that jealousy can sometimes motivate people towards harmful behaviour, which is why the Holy Qur’an teaches prayers for protection from the harm of the envious. The remedy for the evil eye, therefore, lies in prayer, remembrance of Allah and seeking refuge in Him. “Allah has taught us a prayer in the Holy Qur’an in the concluding chapters.” He also said gave reference to what the first and second Khalifa said about this and and an example corning Maulana Rajeki Sahib - (please see full answer in link below)

Huzoor (aba) also warned against superstition and fraudulent practices involving charms, amulets, magic and so-called spiritual healers who deceive people, especially the less educated, through fear and manipulation. He explained that some individuals use tricks to convince people that they are under spells or supernatural influence.

  • (4) How can we fulfil the Qur’anic verse “travel through the Earth”?
Huzoor (aba) said that the Qur’anic instruction to “travel through the Earth” is not merely about tourism or enjoyment, but about reflecting upon the signs of Allah’s creation and learning lessons from the rise and fall of nations. He said that when travelling, one should observe the beauty and wonder of creation like mountains, oceans, forests, rivers and landscapes and then reflect on the power and wisdom of Allah manifested within them. Such reflection strengthens recognition of God and deepens spirituality.

Huzoor (aba) further said that travelling should lead a person to study history and the fate of past peoples who became arrogant, rejected divine guidance, or committed injustice. Ancient ruins and destroyed civilisations serve as reminders that no worldly power lasts forever. He cited examples such as Pharaoh and other nations whose pride and oppression eventually led to their downfall.

Huzoor (aba) went on to say that the purpose of these verses is to draw moral and spiritual lessons from history, current world events and even the collapse of powerful societies. A believer should therefore travel with reflection, humility and awareness of Allah, rather than viewing travel purely as entertainment.

Huzoor (aba) referred to the guidance of the Holy Prophet (sa), who taught that when believers read verses about divine blessings, they should pray to be among those who receive them and when reading about punishment, they should seek forgiveness and protection from Allah.

  • (5) How can we resolve a lack of alignment between office holders and Jama’at members?
Huzoor (aba) said that a lack of alignment between office holders and Jama’at members often arises when relationships become purely administrative rather than personal and compassionate. He emphasised that office bearers should not only approach members when collecting contributions, inviting them to events, or discussing organisational matters. Instead, they should build sincere, caring and brotherly relationships beyond official responsibilities. When members feel genuinely valued and cared for, stronger trust and attachment naturally develop.

Huzoor (aba) stressed that kindness, compassion and personal connection are essential qualities for office holders. If members see that office bearers truly care for their wellbeing, they will be more receptive and cooperative. However, if leaders approach people merely to exercise authority or make demands, distance and resentment can develop.

Huzoor (aba) referred to the example from the Holy Qur’an regarding Prophet Abraham (as), explaining that people are drawn through love, training and attachment. True leadership, therefore, is based on affection, moral training and sincere care rather than authority alone.
